Ottawa Comes Back to Defeat Baker

Despite a slow start and a nine point deficit in the second half, the Braves of Ottawa University men's basketball team came back Thursday night to defeat the Baker Wildcats in Baldwin City by 11 points, 80-69. The game was tied at halftime and the Baker Wildcats came out of the locker room all fired up. They went ahead by as many as nine points, but the Braves finally got shots to drop and slowly clawed their way back into the game.
After it was all said and done, the Braves defeated Baker by a margin of 11 points. A week earlier in Ottawa, the Braves defeated the Wildcats by 20 points. The Braves have gotten off to a slower start than last year, losing their first three games of the year. But they currently sit on a 3-4 record with two exhibition games coming up against Emporia State and Fort Hays State.

Matthew is averaging 6.6 points per game and leading the team in assists with 5.4 assists per game. This is Matthew's senior season and second year as a starter at Ottawa University. Last year, Matthew averaged 11 points and 4 assists a game for the Braves. The next regular season game is at Haskell December 1 at 7 p.m and the next home game is against St. Mary, December 4 at 8 p.m.
